ESR6. Vishnu Vardhan
Short biography
Vishnu Vardhan finished his bachelor’s degree from Amrita University, India, in Electronics and Communication Engineering; he also attended Politecnico Di Milano, Italy as an exchange student to finish his final year project. He further attended Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) for a master’s degree in electrical engineering, specialization in Telecommunication and Sensing systems. He finished his master thesis on Space-time codes for Massive MIMO at KULeuven, Belgium. After graduation, he started his career as a Baseband Algorithm Engineer at Saankhya Labs, India, analyzing CSI-based beamforming solutions in compliance with 5G NR standards. He continued his career as a DSP engineer at CommAgility Ltd, Germany, where he is actively involved in PHY L1 software development for small cell 5G NR; his key contributions are modeling DL channels according to 3GPP standards. Currently, he is enrolled as PhD student at Aalborg University under the EU program 5G SmartFact, where he will be working on cell-free Massive MIMO systems for Industry 4.0.
Short description of project objectives
The key objective of the project is to propose novel physical layer methods for massive MIMO and RIS based wireless system for industry 4.0 scenarios and use-cases.
Modeling intelligent user association and resource management schemes for a cell-free massive MIMO system to support critical requirements.
Investigating and modeling the appropriate strategies to include Intelligent Reflecting Surfaces (IRS) to assist cell-free massive MIMO systems in overcoming the harsh propagation environments of industrial communication.
Evaluating the performance of proposed schemes under different frequency bands (Sub6GHz and mmWaves).
Performance and complexity analysis of the proposed strategies is evaluated under non-ideal scenarios and hardware and signal measurement impairments.
